I woke up this morning with an email from Tali. She told me not to get discouraged, that Ms Walter was still thinking about her decision on to accept me as her intern or not. Still thinking?? WTF! Does she not know who I am?? I'm the bomb! I should accept her! haha Ok, totally kidding.
Anyways, she sends me a few more options of studios to look over. I find one that sounds amazing! They specifically ask for a female US intern with help on a Kitchen project. Sounds good huh? And to top things off, the office is full of hot, young guys! I'll take it!!!!
Before I could email Tali back, she had emailed me with the subject line "Congratulations!" Really? Yep, Ms Walter has offered me an internship! Great! Right? I should be super stoked! But I'm not for some reason. Is it becasue I just found this new studio? Is it cold feet, and I'm just nervous on finalizing everything? Would I rather be transferred to New York? Oh gosh, I am so bad at this! To top things off, I have 24 hours to accept or decline the offer! Ugh..... Scratch that, 12 hours to make a decision! Ok, I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight!
Wish me luck!

I have an Interview in Barcelona at 5pm which is what time in Alabama?
So on Monday (October 26th), my phone rings at 7:30 am. I quickly jump up assuming it's my alarm clock and I have overslept for class, until I realize it was my ringer and it was Tali, my inetrnship coordinator from Barcelona was calling. Ok, so on Monday's I don't have to be in Florence until 10am which means I don't have to leave Athens until 9am, therefore I don't need out of bed until 8am AT THE EARLIEST! How dare someone call me at 7:30, when I have a whole 30 minutes to sleep! Although I'm sure whatever Tali has to say is important, I think it can wait 30 minutes... back to bed I go!
It's not 5 minutes later and Tali sends me a text message telling me I have an interview in Spain at 5pm, Barcelona time. Ok, so what time is that in Alabama??? Have you ever tried subtracting time zones while laying in bed, half asleep? Didn't think so. I calculated what I thought was right, 10am Alabama time, so back to sleep I went.
I got up at 8:30, got dresesd and headed to school. Tali called back and gave me an interview prep course and informed me it would be 11am Alabama time. So at 11 am, I go to the parking deck, lock myself in my car and make the call halfway around the world. I speak with the secretary and as he is transferring me, I lose signal. Of course, I would lose signal here, now. Ugh, I look at my phone, I have 3 bars! 3 freaking bars! So I hit redial and talk to Christoph once more. He transfers me and I'm now talking to my potential employer. She gets two questions out of her mouth when, yep, you guessed it, I lose signal, yet again! In a complete panic and knowing I have just screwed this opprotunity all up, I call back and Ms Walter answers the phone directly. She laughed as I repeated I'm so sorry, in my southern accent and said things happen. Long story, still long- The interview went great (I think). I guess we'll see....

And the winner is...
So I waited and waited and finally the day came... I was accepted!!!! Phew, I thought I was going to throw up! But no worries, I didn't! Now I'm accepted: Where the 'F' am I going to come up with $8,000?? Mom and dad are great! They have agreed to pay most of my way. I have applied for many scholarships including one at my home University, UNA. It is a Study Abroad scholarship that if won, they will supply my plane tickets! Plane tickets usually aren't that expensive... Unless you are traveling half way around the world then they'll cost you about $1,200.
I rarely check my mail on campus but was bored last Friday so I thought I'd be a good idea. Yes, I have 2 pieces of mail, but I cannot get my stupid mailbox open! Obviously I don't know how to work a combination! :/ So I convince myself it is all junk mail. The following Tuesday I get an email that my student loan has come in. So I walked back to my mailbox and it only took me 5 minutes and 15 trys, but I got in! Not only was there my loan check but also my letter stating that I had been granted the study abroad scholarship for the campus!!! YES!!! Today is my day!!! :) Of course I will have to give a presentation to the study body when I return, but it will be worth it!

Economy sucks, where will I find an Internship?
I'm not sure why, but I'm am on a purple and italic 'kick' here lately... Oh, and as you will notice I absolutely love love love! the lingering 3 dots at the end of a sentence... See? I'm not sure why, but I have become addicted! So I will go ahead and apologize in advance and try to write this as grammatically proper as possible!
So, about a year ago I started researching internships. I want to be as big as possible one day so I wanted to work for a well known professional when it came time for me to do my internship for school and I knew there were not many of those in little Athens, AL; actually I don't believe there are any.
I talked with a producer from HGTV to see if they had any openenings, but they were all public relations, business type internships, ironically none for interior designers. Well, I put off the thought for a while until the beginning of school this semester when I found out the students a year ahead of me looked all summer for internships and couldn't find one! Because the economy sucked so much designers didn't even want 'FREE' help! How crazy!? This is when I realized that I needed to pull up the search engine again and get a head start on things.
I came across University of Dreams. This site looked familiar then I remembered I had visited it a year ago on my first quest for internships. I decided that the tuition and travel cost was not as expensive as the knowledge I would gain in those two months! I talked with my family and decided that we would find a way to make it possible. So I filled out my application, submitted the fee and waited... and waited... AND WAITED!!!
